What people are saying.

  • The Compassionate Communication workshops were a terrific learning opportunity for faculty and staff at Virginia Tech. Participants not only learned the principles of Compassionate Communication, they learned specific, actionable ways to apply those principles in the classroom and the workplace. Paul and Cheri are joyful experts with contagious enthusiasm. Their authenticity is clear to their audience because they model the principles of compassionate communication with the audience and each other. Our participants were so inspired and empowered by what they learned that a work group was formed to further compassionate communication as a framework for calling people into community while holding ourselves and each other accountable.

  • Thanks for such an energizing session with the students in August. The CCI students at Kirkwood LOVED your session and were quick to start using some of the phrasing from the nonviolent communication activities. When you both facilitated the opening activity to set our intentions and guide us to reset for [our staff retreat], I felt that this would be a PERFECT activity to open up our retreat and help center us on the day ahead. I wanted to include something that would help all of us reflect on what might be impeding us from truly showing up throughout the discussions and in turn better serve our students. The activity was well received by the staff. One of which shared that this guided reflection helped her to process an interaction with a student from earlier in the day but to leave it at that and focus on connecting with the team. Another shared that she felt the activity was very introspective, relaxing, and a nice way to start the retreat, setting the tone for the rest of the day.
